Breast

Surgery of the breast is performed to enhance the size or shape of a women's breast for cosmetic, medical or reconstructive reasons.

Breast Augmentation
(Augmentation Mammaplasty)

Breast Augmentation is a very popular procedure for women and among the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures.  Women who choose to have breast augmentation surgery do so to improve their self-image.  Some feel dissatisfied because their breasts never develop to a size that meets their expectations.  Others want to bring balance to a breast that is somewhat smaller than the other.  Often, women want the procedure to restore their natural breast volume, which may have decreased as a result of pregnancy, weight loss or aging.  A personal consultation is the first step for anyone considering breast augmentation.  At this time, Dr. Kutlu will discuss your specific goals for surgery and the latest state-of-the-art techniques for minimizing scarring.  The technique and the type and size of implants used for your surgery depend on your desired results.  After surgery, breasts will appear fuller and shapelier in contour.  Incision scars will fade over time.

Breast Lift
(Mastopexy)

Over time, the effects of gravity along with the loss of the skin's natural elasticity begins to have an effect on the appearance of a woman's breasts.  These factors, combined with pregnancies and nursing will often cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness.

A breastlift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts.  The procedure can also reduce the size of the areola (the darker skin surrounding the nipple).  Breast implants inserted in conjunction with a mastopexy procedure can increase both firmness and size.

Breast Reduction
(Reduction Mammaplasty)

Large, pendulous breasts may cause a woman to experience various medical problems caused by the excessive weight of the breast tissue.  Problems with posture, skeletal deformities, back and neck pain, skin irritations and breathing problems are common with this condition.  Bra straps often leave indentations in the shoulder area.  Many women, especially teenage girls, are very self-conscious if they have unusually large breasts.

Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) removes fat, glandular tissue, and excessive skin, resulting in smaller, lighter and firmer breasts that are better-shaped in proportion to rest of the body.

Breast Reconstruction

The aim of breast reconstruction is to create a soft, natural-looking breast for a woman who must undergo breast removal due to cancer or other disease.  Breast reconstruction can be performed immediately following mastectomy or at a later date and can greatly improve a woman’s self-image and overall quality of life.  A personal consultation is the first step for every patient considering breast reconstruction.  During this meeting, Dr. Kutlu will address specific questions that relate to your individual needs.

Male Breast Reduction
(Gynecomastia)

Although rarely discussed, enlarged male breasts is a common condition.  Gynecomastia affects approximately 40 to 60 percent of men.  There is no known cause for gynecomastia, although there has been some correlation with various drugs or medical conditions.

Men who feel self-conscious about their appearance are helped with breast-reduction surgery. The procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a contoured chest that is flatter and firmer.
